Overview

The Bariloche Foundation Philosophy Program was created in 1990 with the purpose of carrying out research and publishing activities, post-graduate teaching, human resource training, organization of congresses and seminars, among others, in different fields of philosophy, particularly epistemology.
In 1992, the Program started a biennial series called Bariloche International Colloquia of Philosophy, of which there have been seven instances so far. Renowned researchers, both from Argentina and abroad, have participated in them. As a result of this initiative, a collection of books has been published by different editorial houses.
Since 1996, the Program has offered, jointly with the School of Humanities of Comahue National University, a Master’s Degree in Philosophy and History of Sciences. This course is directed by the Program director, and has a staff of qualified teachers from different universities in the country. Three groups of students have completed the course so far, a large number of whom have already presented their theses or are about to do so.
Since 1998, the Program has carried out several research projects financed by CONICET. One such instance is the international cooperation project with the CSIC Philosophy Institute (Madrid). It has also participated in a project promoted by the ECOS program together with the Gino Germani Resarch Instititute of the School of Social Sciences, Buenos Aires University, and with Paris I University. Five pot-graduate scholars are currently participating in these programs.
In 1999, the Program created the Revista Patagónica de Filosofía, an indexed publication, with the support of an international Advisory Committee made up of renowned specialists. It is edited jointly through an agreement with Quilmes National Univesity.

Since 2002, the Program has hosted, together with the Gino Germani Research Institute of Buenos Aires University, a UNESCO Philosophy Chair, whose head is the Program director, and Dr. Francisco Naishtat is an associate teacher
